Dear Employee:
On behalf of the Judges, Division Heads and staff of the Superior Court in Mohave County, please accept my warm welcome and wishes for successful employment as a member of our team of dedicated professionals.
The Superior Court is the State of Arizona's general jurisdiction Trial Court. Superior Court Judges hear all types of cases, with the exception of small claims, minor offenses and violations of city codes and ordinances. The Superior Court in Mohave County is comprised of six (6) numbered divisions, each headed up by a Superior Court Judge, and a Court Commissioner. In addition to these Courts, the Superior Court in Mohave County includes the offices of Clerk of the Superior Court, Adult and Juvenile Probation, Juvenile Detention, Court Administrator's Office and the Conciliation Court. The Superior Court has facilities in Kingman and Bullhead City, from which operations stretch County-wide. The Presiding Judge oversees and administers the Superior Court through elected and appointed Division Heads.
The mission of the Superior Court in Mohave County is to achieve and maintain an independent, integrated and professional Judicial Department which provides fair, effective and efficient services; adjudicates matters in a just, expeditious and timely manner; ensures due process; provides safe and equal access during proceedings; protects individual and corporate rights; prevents the arbitrary use of power; ensures the rule of law; punishes offenders; and resolves other issues as needed.
These Merit Rules have been designed to acquaint you with the Superior Court and to provide information about working conditions, employee benefits and policies affecting employment. You should review these rules in detail, familiarize yourself with them and comply with all of their provisions. Please keep in mind that these rules are not intended, nor relied upon as constituting, an employment contract or legal document. No employee handbook can anticipate every situation or circumstance which may arise. As unanticipated circumstances occur, laws and regulations change and the Court continues to grow, the need may arise to revise, supplement, replace or rescind some or all of the policies or other items included in these rules. If these things do occur, we will endeavor to keep you informed of all such changes.
