
Judges Bio,
Judge Gurtler was appointed by the Arizona Supreme Court
as Judge Pro Tempore with the Juvenile Division in
April, 1994. He served as Judge Pro Tem until elected as
Judge of Division 1 in 2002.
Judge Gurtler graduated from the
University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, with a Bachelor of
Arts Degree with a double major in History/Political
Science in 1983. He received numerous awards including
graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Judge Gurtler received his Juris
Doctorate Degree from California Western School of Law
in San Diego in 1986. He was voted the Outstanding
Commercial Law Student by law school faculty; interned
for the Honorable John Hargrove, Bankruptcy Judge; named
to the Dean's List and received the American
Jurisprudence Award in International Law.
Judge Gurtler's current case
assignment is civil matters filed in Bullhead City, 40%
of all civil matters filed in Kingman (cases ending with
a 0, 3, 5 or 8), probates, guardianships/
conservatorships, domestic relation cases filed in
Bullhead City and the contested domestic relations cases
filed in Lake Havasu City.
