Community Advisory Board (CAB)
The Mohave County Community Advisory Board is comprised of members who serve to promote education and understanding between the community and the juvenile court. CAB members are advocates for juvenile courts. The Board has been in existence in Mohave County since 1997.
Members are appointed by the Presiding Juvenile Court Judge, upon recommendation from the juvenile court director and others. CAB officers are elected annually by other members of the board and serve until the end of the year or until his/her successor has been elected and qualified. A vacancy on the board may be filled by the Presiding Juvenile Court Judge for the unexpired term.
The Chairperson presides at all meetings of the Board and supervises and gives direction to the Board’s activities.
CAB members address issues ranging from juvenile justice legislation to serving as an oversight agency for the Juvenile Accountability Block (JAB) Grant Funded through the Governor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families.
This year, the JAB grant funded Teen Law School, a diversion program for first or second time offenders. Quarterly reports are presented to our local CAB for review.
