Superior Court Seeks to Fill Vacancy on Judicial Merit Commission
The Superior Court in Mohave County is seeking to appoint a resident of Mohave County to fill a public member vacancy on the Judicial Employee Merit Commission. The commission meets on a quarterly basis and is responsible for advising the presiding judge on personnel matters affecting the Superior Court which includes employees from the office of the clerk of the court, adult and juvenile probation, and the superior court divisions. The commission is responsible for recommending rules, processes and procedures for advancing professionalism and efficiency in all judicial operations. It is also empowered to hear employee grievances involving matters such as application of merit system rules. Commissioners serve in a volunteer non-paid status.
The current commissioners include public members Susan Chan, David French, Jackie Walker and Amy Sugamele; supervisory employee members Josh Frisby and Heather Gillespie; and non-supervisory members Lori Linn and Cherie Olivas. The court strives to have a diverse and broad representation on the commission.
Appointment to fill the public member vacancy will be made by the Honorable Charles W. Gurtler, Jr., Presiding Superior Court Judge, and the individual selected will serve a four year term.
